Road Trip from Melbourne to Fraser Island

My pick of caravan parks to stay at South to Central N.S.W Coast.

Discovery Park Pambula Beach

Distance: 575km / approximately 7.5 hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $54 for an unpowered site.

The beach is so close you can taste it.  Discovery Park Pambula Beach boasts absolute beachfront accommodation.  With everything you want for the kids.  From splash park,  two swimming pools, and a jumping pillow.  Kids will also love all the wildlife roaming around the park.  Especially the jumping Kangaroos.  Nestled between Eden and Merimbula the family will love all the attractions nearby.

Holiday Haven Ulladulla

Distance: 838km / approximately 9-hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $30 for an unpowered site.

With views across Ulladulla Harbour and beaches,  shops and cafes within walking distance. This is a great stopover.  The park offers generous size caravan sites with direct access to Lobster Jacks Beach.  This means access only for the caravan park guests for that early morning dip.

Fingal Bay Holiday Park (Port Stevens)

Distance: 1082km / approximately 11.5 hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $70 for an unpowered site.

Port Stevens was one of my Favourite destinations to visit.  Fingal Bay Caravan Park is directly opposite the stunning patrolled surf beach.  Fingal Bay is close enough to all the action but away from all the hustle and bustle.  If it’s hustle and bustle that you’re into the family will love all the local restaurants along the marina.

My pick of caravan parks to stay at Northern N.S.W coast.

White Albatross Nambucca Heads

Distance: 1353 km / approximately 14-hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $70 for an unpowered site.

This park is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Nambucca River.  The park features a range of amenities to keep the kids entertained like playground,  splash park and my favorite the tidal swimming lagoon. Also I recommend to bring some paint and write your name on the popular rock sea wall.

Big 4 Park Beach Holiday Park Coffs Harbour

Distance: 1392 km / approximately 14.5-hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $37 for an unpowered site.

As soon as you arrive at the big 4 holiday park you feel like the fun holiday vibes take over.  Located on the stunning coffs coast neighbouring the main beach and coastal creek reserve.  This is the ultimate family beachside holiday.  Enjoy hours of fun in the resort-style pool,  with tipping bucket,  slide, and rock waterfall.  There’s so much to explore nearby like cafes,  restaurants and let’s not forget the big Banana.

Discovery Park Byron Bay

Distance: 1626 km / approximately 17-hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $37 for an unpowered site.

The jewel of the N.S.W North coast.  Gorgeous Beaches lush green hinterland and just a relaxing place.  The park is just 2 kilometers from the hustle and bustle town centre. Which boasts exceptional restaurants,  cafes, and shops.  The park includes a great water park for the kids that they would not want to leave.  once there the Byron Bay lighthouse is worth a look.

My pick of caravan parks to stay at Queensland coast

Main Beach Tourist Park.

Distance: 1704km / approximately 18-hour drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $45 for an unpowered site.

Being only a two-minute drive from Surfers Paradise this is my pic for exploring the Gold Coast.  This park is also close enough to explore the theme parks.  Being so close to Surfers Paradise you are spoilt for choice with all the restaurants and shops.  The park has a great resort-style pool and across the road from the beautiful Main Beach.

Noosa Caravan Park

Distance: 1928km / approximately 20-drive from Melbourne.

Price: Rates start at $45 for an unpowered site.

Noosa Caravan Park is idyllically located a short drive away from the Noosa River and stunning beaches with pristine white sand and warm water. You can’t visit Noosa without having the perfect Dining experience along Hastings Street.

Discovery Park Hervey Bay and Fraser Island

Distance: 1937km / approximately 24- drive from Melbourne (Fraser island).

Price: Rates start at $45 for an unpowered site.

Discovery Park Hervey Bay is set on 8 acres of subtropical gardens.  Which feature a tennis court, playground,  gigantic bouncing pillow and two swimming pools.  All this is a short drive to the pristine beaches with outdoor cafes.  Hervey Bay was our base for the must-visit Fraser Island.  Fraser Island is one of a few places in Australia where you can drive on the beach.  Which was one of my highlights.  Other high lights were The Maheno Shipwreck and Lake Mekenzie with the whitest sand and clear pure water.  The kids loved Eli creek where you can swim or float down the flowing creek.
